We were blessed, recently, to see our friends at Beit Cure International Hospital - Lusaka, Zambia. Beit Cure Hospital specializes in treating children with deformities ranging from hydrocephalus to clubfeet. Water for the Oppressed has provided health & hygiene training, for the patients, on several occasions. In the past, Beit Cure Hospital assisted a small boy from a village where WFTO provided a water well. The small boy desperately needed assistance with mending a club foot. He was able to visit Beit Cure international hospital and have several surgeries. He is now running and playing with the rest of the children in his village. Praise the Lord!

Leslie, along with a few friends, went to bless each of the 37 patients at Beit Cure Hospital on June 19th, with a warm, colorfully knitted/crocheted blanket. The ladies who joined Leslie are the very ladies who assisted with sewing together the knitted/crocheted squares, used to makeup these wonderful blankets, which are filled with much love and prayers. Each of the colorful, handmade squares were contributed through, Hands to Hearts Outreach, founded by Sheryl Baird (Lake Gaston Christian Life Centre – Ebony, Virginia). The Lord laid this ministry on Sheryl’s heart so that many sick children, teenagers and adults would be extremely blessed by this heartfelt outreach. A huge thank you to each and every one of you who took the time to knit or crochet squares for this worthwhile outreach!

During this recent blanket distribution, all of the recipients expressed such gratitude for the blankets which will help keep them warm during the cold months that are upon us now. In reality, most of these patients do not have a warm blanket to call their very own. They all are tremendously grateful for your time, talent & prayers. They all commented on how the blankets were so warm and colorful. Each of the patients has a family member with them, in most instances it is a mother, father or grandmother who is able to stay with the patient during their stay at the hospital. They are in charge of getting the patient back and forth to the hospital through various means of transportation. They assist the staff with feeding, bathing etc. the patients. They are also in charge of special aftercare of the patients when they are discharged from the hospital. Many of the caretakers and patients themselves were overwhelmed that so many people in the US were thinking about them and praying for them! Please know that you are appreciated and are making a difference in these patients’ lives!

As we wrapped the blankets around each of them, we expressed that you and Jesus love them very much and we will continue to pray for each of them and their recovery. All of this was done to show His love to each of them! All of the Glory is given to Him for what He has accomplished! As we stood by the patient’s bedside in the hospital ward, we prayed in their native language for each and every one of them individually. We prayed for the one who was sick (recently had surgery) and for the recovery process that was to come for them. We prayed for the journey home and for their families as well as caretakers. We prayed for the doctors, nurses and staff members at Cure Hospital and for the wonderful miracles this hospital is doing through each of them here in Zambia.
