Chinyonamuchila Village
This hand pump provides water for a village with a total population of 350 individuals. We found the hand pump in poor mechanical condition with stagnant water standing near the well. The stagnant water draws the local livestock to the area leading to deteriorated hygiene. Mosquitoes are also attracted to the stagnant water increasing the chances of malaria for those who come to draw water. We encouraged the community to fill in the area where the water was collecting with clean clay and stones. In addition, the community dug a pit (soaker pit) and filled it with stones allowing the runoff water to be soaked back into the earth. As you can see in the pictures, the ladies were thankful and happy for the hand pump repair! After the hand pump was repaired, the Word was shared with the community and nine people made professions of faith in Jesus! Amen.
